Do you suffer from split or stretched earlobes? Although earlobes can be surgically repaired, earlobe repair surgery isn’t generally available on the NHS as it is usually seen as cosmetic and a “procedure of limited clinical value”. However, if you choose to get your earlobes repaired, the process is relatively simple and we can help you arrange the surgery quickly and efficiently.
Whether stretched or split, if you would like your earlobe repaired and would like to be seen quickly, enquire with us today and we can get you seen as soon as possible.
Earlobes can become split or stretched for a variety of reasons, whether from wearing heavy earrings over a long period of time, injury or through gradually stretching out pierced holes, however the repair is a simple procedure performed under local anaesthetic.
Repair of the split earlobe is a minor surgical procedure which can be carried out under local anaesthesia in about 45 minutes, and the stitches will be removed a week after the procedure. There will be a small scar in the area which will improve over time. Massage of the scar with bio oil or any moisturiser daily will hasten the process of scar settling. Piercing the ear lobe should not be done for at least 3 months post repair as the scar will be weak and can tear if earrings are worn during this time.
Repair of stretched ears can be done under local anaesthesia, but has to be planned on an individual basis depending on the extent of the stretch. The procedure involves refashioning the available tissue to achieve as natural a look as possible.
