There are over 200 conditions and disorders that affect the bones, joints, muscles, and soft tissues. A rheumatology specialist is specifically trained in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions and can offer relief for chronic pain and discomfort. Conditions range from arthritis to lupus and gout and although some conditions are not curable, they can be managed with the right treatment and care.
Rheumatic conditions can cause pain, inflammation, swelling, discomfort, and difficulty in carrying on with everyday activities.
At Summerfield Healthcare we offer quick, direct, and convenient appointments, including weekend appointments, with our experienced Rheumatologist, Dr Ayman Askari.
Using a private rheumatology clinic means you can skip long waiting periods involved in referrals from the NHS or simply get an independent second opinion on a condition and potential treatments.
We can help diagnose and manage your condition, providing treatment for a range of problems, including:
Depending on your symptoms and the initial assessment, we will be able to give you specialist advice and treatment for your condition or refer you further if necessary. Your initial exam may be a physical examination, or we may need to use other diagnostic tests to get a full idea of your condition. All of this will be discussed with you in detail during your consultation to ensure you feel comfortable with your course of care.
Joints are sensitive and joint damage can occur easily if symptoms are ignored or left untreated. Damage to joints is not always reversible either, so if you feel any joint pain it is always best to get it looked at by a specialist sooner rather than later.
Certain joint conditions can also fluctuate in severity or improve with initial medication before flaring up again when the course of medication is complete. If this occurs, you should also seek medical advice as soon as possible.
Anyone with joint pain can benefit from a visit to a specialist, but it is especially important if you:
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic and often severe condition that massively impacts mobility and lifestyle. Rheumatoid arthritis usually appears in hands and feet but can impact any joint in the body. The condition usually develops between the ages of 30 and 50 and it is thought there may be a genetic link in those who suffer from the condition. If you have a history of rheumatoid arthritis in your family, you should speak to a rheumatologist for advice.
At Summerfield Healthcare we offer treatments that allow you to live a much more active lifestyle with reduced disability. Treatment for rheumatoid arthritis can help reduce inflammation in the joints as well as relieve pain and prevent slow joint damage.
You can book a consultation at either our rheumatology clinic Wolverhampton or our rheumatology clinic Shrewsbury on a day and at a time that suits you. Our consultant will examine the affected area(s) and discuss the most appropriate treatment.
Consulting fees begin at £199.00 and follow up consultations are £129.00. As treatments vary from case to case the exact cost of your treatment will be discussed during your consultation.
You may be offered a range of treatments, including joint or intramuscular injections and privately prescribed medicines not available on the NHS.
