Nutritional Therapy

Nutrition

Food is a necessity, but your diet and nutrition is a lifestyle. A healthy nutritional diet rewards the body not just physically, but also mentally. With obesity levels constantly rising in the UK and other diseases common it is becoming increasingly important to take your nutrition seriously.

The science behind nutrition is the interaction of nutrients and other substances in the food which we eat, in relation to maintenance, growth and health of the body. There is a high degree to which an individuals’ consumption of nutrients, also known as their diet, influences the balance between full health and disease.

Nutrition stems far beyond cooking meals and drinking fruit juices. In fact, many people do not realise that the right nutrition maximises your ability to create energy, build and maintain tissues and regulate your body’s processes.

The most commonly known groups of nutrients are:

  • Carbohydrates
  • Fibre
  • Minerals
  • Protein
  • Vitamins
  • Water

Of course, there are various sub-categories within these groups but eating and drinking the right amount of each of the above contributes to a healthy diet and the correct intake of nutrition.

Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional therapy promotes health, performance and care of an individual through the application of nutrition. Nutritional therapists work with clients to achieve a goal of nutritional balance and improvement of associated conditions. It is available to those individuals looking to strengthen their health and improve their well being.

A Practitioner will recognize that each individual client is very different and a personalised plan must be implemented based on original diet/health, and other circumstances, for instance finance and a client’s ability to cook.

Nutritional Therapy can help ease various conditions, for example: Food intolerance and its associated skin conditions, high cholesterol, stress and blood-sugar imbalances.
