The news regularly shows us stories of women who receive late diagnoses for a number of conditions which results in a huge impact on their health and lives.
It is an ongoing issue and one that we would like to see change.
This is why in November and December we are offering a limited number of 15-minute free GP consultations in Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton with female GPs to allow women to sit and talk about any concerns or worries they may have.
This chat gives our female GPs the chance to hear from women about what they are experiencing and allows them to reassure them or, if needed, refer them on for further investigations including blood tests, referral to scan and implant removals.
In Shrewsbury, Dr Serena Salamat will be hosting clinics between 10am and 1pm on:
November 17th
December 1st
December 15th
A limited number of appointments will be available free of charge within these clinics.
In Wolverhampton, Dr Sundeep Sidhu will be hosting clinics between 9am and 1pm on:
November 6th
November 20th
December 4th
A limited number of appointments will be available free of charge within these clinics.
In December last year, a Times investigation revealed that more than one million women in England do not have access to a regular female GP.
The patients included tens of thousands of elderly women who often prefer to see a female doctor.
The report said that practices could book female locums to see them for one-off appointments but that they were expensive and patients said they had faced hostility from staff when they requested this or complained.
We understand that many women would prefer to discuss certain issues with a female doctor, including the menopause, cervical smears, hormones and more, and we hold regular Women’s Health clinics with a female GP at both our Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton sites.

General Practitioner
Dr Sundeep Sidhu is a GP with professional interests in all aspects of women’s health. She completed her GP training at the Oxford Deanery and also gained a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
All services are available at Summerfield Healthcare with appropriate COVID-19 precautions in place during the current restrictions. Our call centre is open at our usual times of 8am-6pm Monday-Friday, and 11am-2pm Saturday.
For GP and consultant services we are now providing COVID-19 testing for all patients and Doctors. This is mandatory due to the proximity of the practitioner, the duration of the appointment and multiple clinicians often being involved in your treatment. An additional £10 will be included in the appointment fee at the point of payment to cover the cost of COVID testing, and your booking confirmation will reflect this requirement. This is not required for blood testing due to the short duration of appointments and reduced risk of exposure.
If you cannot find the service you are looking for to book please call 0333 9000 010 or email [email protected]. All COVID testing services are continuing during lockdown.
