We are delighted to announce an expansion of our healthcare provision by launching a new orthopaedic hand and wrist service.

It’s the latest move in the ongoing commitment of Summerfield Healthcare to provide quality, easy to access and quickly available professional care for a growing number of people at our Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton clinics.

The new service is now available through renowned consultant hand and upper limb surgeon Piers Moreau – who is already well known in the area for his work at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital in Oswestry and at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

Identifying and filling a need

It’s a move which fills the need for the highest quality of private orthopaedic healthcare locally with patients able to receive the consultation, diagnosis and treatment they need swiftly and conveniently to aid a quick recovery.

Mr Moreau is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with more than 30 years surgical experience, just under 20 of which are at consultant level on the specialist register and specialises in disorders of the hand and upper limb.

He focuses on all areas of hand and wrist surgery including carpal tunnel release, trigger finger, ganglion cysts removal and dupuytren’s contractures.

Highly respected

As well as consulting privately at Summerfield Healthcare, Mr Moreau is also based at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital in Oswestry, a centre with is internationally respected for its work in orthopaedics, and at the Princess Royal Hospital, Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust – two hospitals where he sees NHS patients for general orthopaedic trauma and specialised hand and wrist surgery.

He attended Eton College, Jesus College Cambridge and St Bartholomew’s Medical School, qualifying in 1991 and becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons four years later. He moved to Shropshire in 1997.

Piers is also a Fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association, a Faculty Member of the AO Hand and Wrist Group and a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.
