Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It is most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other emotional problems. Therapy cannot remove your problems, but it can help you deal with them in a more positive and productive manner.

Our perception and interaction with life, others and ourselves can have a tremendous impact on how we experience living on a day to day basis. Maintaining a healthy balance and being content requires an investment of energy in looking after ourselves. Life can be very busy, stressful and emotionally draining. When you are feeling upset, low in mood, stressed or unsure about a particular area of your life it can be very helpful and healing to take a step back, access support and work through any concerns within a safe, confidential therapeutic relationship.

Psychotherapy helps at the emotional, behavioural, cognitive, and physiological levels of functioning. Through therapy you can learn a range of evidence based techniques and interventions that will provide the knowledge and strategies needed to move forward, feeling more in control of you and your life.

Counselling and Psychotherapy is available to anyone from 13 years of age upward. A parent or guardian would need to give consent and accompany a young person aged 13-16 to the clinic. Due to the confidential nature of therapy young people can choose whether they wish to involve parents or guardians in individual appointments.

The initial appointment will focus on assessing needs and providing an opportunity to discuss any questions you may have about the process and content of therapy.
