Fatigue Profile Blood Test Wolverhampton & Shrewsbury

Being fatigued, or feeling like you are always tired or have no energy, can severely impact your life and productivity, putting strain on home life and work. You could feel mentally tired, physically tired, or both.

Tiredness is normal and is your body’s way of ensuring you get enough rest, but if you are experiencing prolonged or unusual fatigue, it could be an indicator of an underlying condition.

If you are feeling fatigued, you shouldn’t have to stress about the cause and treatment.

At Summerfield Healthcare, we offer a fatigue profile blood test. This simple test will give us a comprehensive overview so that you can narrow down the reason for your tiredness.

What could be causing the fatigue?

Common culprits for fatigue include:

  • Iron deficient anaemia
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Failure
  • Chest illnesses, including asthma
  • Addison’s disease
  • Carbon Monoxide poisoning
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Pregnancy
  • Glandular Fever
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Getting a fatigue profile blood test done may help you to identify a condition that may be causing your fatigue or rule out certain conditions.

What does the fatigue profile blood test involve?

The full fatigue profile is a blood workup that checks for any abnormalities that could be making you tired. These include the following biomarkers:

  • Full Blood Count
  • Iron
  • Transferrin
  • Iron Binding Capacity
  • FT4
  • TSH
  • Vitamin D
  • Active B12

The test itself is a straightforward blood test. A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm. The test is quick and you will only feel a light scratch when the needle is inserted.

After the blood test you will be able to get back to normal activities immediately. Your blood is then sent to the laboratories where it is analysed and we will contact you as soon as results are available.

We advise that you schedule your test when you are able to avoid food for at least 2 hours before the blood test.
